María Valverde, a Spanish actress was born on March 24, 1987 in Carabanchel. She was such a fortunate and successful girl to win the ‘Goya Award’ with her first public performance at the age of 16. She pursued her favorite hobby which was acting at the ‘Cristina Rota School of Dramatic Arts.’ She started her acting career while she was young and won an audition for a leading role in Manuel Martin Cuenca’s ‘La Flaqueza del Bolchevique.’ This reputable award was the very beginning of her professional career and caused Valverde to pursue her quest with both Spanish or European films, like ‘Melissa P,’ ‘Los Borgia,’ ‘The King of the Mountain,’ and ‘The Anarchist’s Wife.’

In 2009, she started cooperation with English-language films and played the role of Eva Green in the British thriller ‘Cracks.’ She later appeared in the great film ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings,’ ‘Broken Horses,’ and the British film ‘Ali and Nino.’ The Spanish movie ‘Tres Metros Sobre el Cielo’ which she appeared in was a great success. She later appeared in ‘Madrid, 1987,’ ‘La Mula,’ and ‘The Liberator.’

After that, she appeared in other Spanish films such as ‘Body Confusion’ and ‘Vorvik’. In 2005, she played the major role of ‘Melissa Panarello’ in the drama ‘Melissa P.’ This film was adapted from a semi-autobiographical novel ‘One Hundred Strokes of the Brush before Bed’ penned by Melissa Panarello.

Next year in Spanish–Italian film ‘Los Borgia’, whose director was Antonio Hernandez, she played the role of ‘Lucrezia Borgia,’ opposite Paz Vega. In the Spanish film ‘The King of the Mountain’ Valverde played the role of ‘Bea’. This film was directed by Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego.

In 2007, Valverde played the role of ‘Sara’ in ‘Thieves’ ‘Lola’ in ‘The Sandman’ and in 2008 she appeared in ‘The Anarchist’s Wife’. She also starred in some Spanish short movies.

2009 was a turning point in her professional life since she began her cooperation with English-language and Hollywood movies. Her first English film was the British thriller drama ‘Cracks.’ Ridley Scott was the executive producer of this movie. Jordan Scott was the director of this movie.

In 2010, Valverde appeared in the Spanish movie ‘Tres Metros Sobre el Cielo’ (translated as ‘Three Steps above Heaven’) where she played the role of ‘Babi’. Fernando Gonzalez Molina was the director of this film. She again played the role of ‘Babi’ in the sequel film which was produced in 2012, but it was not a successful experience.

In 2011, Valverde appeared in the role of a young journalism student, ‘Angela,’ in the Spanish drama film ‘Madrid, 1987.’ This film which was directed by David Trueba first appeared at the 2011 ‘San Sebastian International Film Festival.’ After this, she played different roles, like ‘Inés’ in ‘A Puerta Fria’ (2012), ‘Conchi’ in ‘La Mula’ and ‘Maria Bolivar’ in the Spanish–Venezuelan drama ‘Libertador’.

Valverde appeared in her first TV performance in 2012, where she played the role of ‘Anna Serra’ in the series ‘La Fuga’. In 2013, she played the role of ‘Virginia Rodriguez’ in six sections of the TV series ‘Hermanos’.

Valverde played the leading role of ‘Vittoria’ in the film ‘Broken Horses,’. Vidhu Vinod Chopra directed this film. In 2016, she starred in four important films: she played the role of ‘Nino Kipiani’ in the British film ‘Ali and Nino,’ ‘Teresa’ in the Spanish–American film ‘Guernica,’ ‘Aveline Ortega’ in the British movie ‘The Limehouse Golem,’ and ‘Elisa’ in the Spanish movie ‘La Carga’ which was the last film of this list.

She appeared in the role of ‘Alicia’ In the French film ‘Back to Burgundy’.  She also starred in the role of ‘Paiva’ in the Canadian–Chinese movie ‘400 Boys’. She played the role of ‘Paz Aguilera’ in the film ‘Plonger’. She also appeared in the Chilean film ‘Spider’, where she played the role of ‘Young Ines.’

Valverde has also supported brands like ‘Nina Ricci’ and ‘Purificacion Garcia.’
